Spotlight Wednesday: J. Lea Design!

It’s Spotlight Wednesday!

Every week, I feature a different vendor  (usually photography-related) on my blog!  I’ll share a little bit about the business itself and the products/service it offers.  And this is the sweet part…..each of these businesses have shown huge generosity by either giving away a product, offering a discount on their services, or BOTH!

**UPDATE – We have a winner! chose KARI ZIELASKO (comment #13) as the winner of today’s giveaway!  Congrats, Kari!!**

I first met Nichole when she took a Camera Mentoring class with me a few months ago – not only is she an aspiring photographer, she also has a passion for creating beautiful boutique items for all ages!  Here’s a little about what she had to say about her business…

“In late 2007 I started to think that I needed an outlet.  I needed a connection with some adults and a creative outlet to keep me sane.  You who are creative know what I mean…creating is therapuetic.  In August of 2007, I had my first child…Jackson.  He was born with multiple congenital anomolies and I decided to stay at home with him.  However I was not one that had ever had this as a desire in the past.  So it took some getting used to.  I found myself needing something to do.  As enjoyable as it is to watch a baby sleep, and don’t get me wrong it is, I prefered to do something during these times.  I had many friends remind me I was supposed to be sleeping, which I did some.  But my baby boy slept alot.  So, long story short I decided to learn a craft.  I picked up crocheting from my sister-in-law and learned to make some hats and in general follow a pattern.  Then we had a surprise come along….Baby Number 2.  So as I was preparing for her arrival, I was trying to recycle and reuse the stuff I had from Jack, but there were stains I didn’t want to see, so I used some fabric to cover them up.  Wala…we now have fancy stylish burpcloths and some cute onesies that were much better than the plain and ordinary white ones.  Fast forward a few months and Avenlea arrived.  She wasn’t the content baby I was used too and out came another need…BIGGER swaddling blankets….and of course cute clothes…I have now found myself selling tank {up}cycled dresses and tops, ruffles, pillowcase dresses, knot dresses, halter tops, burps, blankets and of course the cute hats in both boy and girl: newborn to adults.

I continue to enjoy creating and have just started working on more late summer dresses and some fall items.  All my hats are custom ordered and I look forward to giving away a $20 Gift Certificate to one of Jaci’s blog readers.  PS…isn’t her photography fabulous!!  I decided on a gift cerificate as then you can use it on any of the following (pictured) or something else you find in my store:  Clothes, a hat or any of the cute baby items.  Thank you for checking us out. I have a lot of my recent creations on her J. Lea Design on Facebook and also you can see her shop on Etsy at J Lea Design!”

And I seriously didn’t pay her to say those nice words about me.  🙂  I kind of have my eye on one of her SWEET as PIE up-cycled tank dresses!  So cute!

**J. Lea Design has offered a $20.00 Gift Certificate to one of you!!**
